Ukraine and Türkiye have discussed opportunities for cooperation in satellite technologies, the development of which is important for the security of both countries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this in an interview with CNN Türk following his visit to Türkiye, Ukrinform reports.

“We will also work in this area. This issue has been discussed and evaluated. You will agree that it is not an easy task,” Zelensky said in response to a question about the possibility of joint production or development of technologies with Türkiye, including satellite technologies.

The President stressed the importance of developing their own technologies for the security of both countries.

“However, security is of great importance to both states. Without our own efforts, without having our own technologies, including in the space sector, it is difficult for us to progress,” he stressed.

As reported by Ukrinform, in April 2025, Türkiye put into operation its first domestically produced communications satellite, Türksat 6A, which was launched into space in July 2024 aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket. Türkiye thus joined the group of 11 countries capable of manufacturing their own communications satellites.
