Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, informed the Chairman of the European Union Military Committee, General Robert Brieger, about the situation along the frontline and Ukraine’s transition to a corps-based command structure.

Oleksandr Syrskyi reported this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

Syrskyi expressed gratitude to General Brieger and the EU for their military suport, highlighting the importance of boosting EU initiatives on supplying ammunition and air defense systems.

“I presented my view on the current situation across the approximately 1,100 km-long line of contact. Despite the difficult conditions, Ukraine is restructuring its Armed Forces’ command system, moving toward a corps-level structure. This is aimed at improving command and control capabilities in both defense and offensive operations using modern warfare methods,” Syrskyi said.

He emphasized that the evolving security and operational environment demands continuous efforts to improve combat effectiveness and other areas of activity within the Armed Forces. One such priority is training, actively supported by international partners. Syrskyi and Brieger discussed proposals to optimize and expand cooperation in this area.

The Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief reiterated Ukraine’s commitment to peace and its willingness to explore all avenues to achieve it, but noted that Russia continues to reject Ukraine’s basic proposal for a 30-day ceasefire.

“Therefore, the unity and resolve of our international partners is critically important to achieving a just and lasting peace. Only a strong, consolidated stance by the international community can compel Russia to stop the war in Eastern Europe and prevent future acts of aggression,” Syrskyi underscored.
