The 3rd Special Operations Regiment of the Ukrainian Armed Forces successfully carried out a mission to clear Russian bunkers and bring in infantry from a friendly unit to secure the area.

The operation was reported by the Special Operations Forces (SOF) Command on Facebook, Ukrinform saw.

The SOF operators were tasked with clearing Russian bunkers and guiding friendly infantry units into them.

The operators used drone reconnaissance, fire support groups, and evacuation teams before launching the mission.

The area was heavily compromised, with trees turned into charred stumps that could easily expose the operators, artillery fire already pre-targeting routes, and all approaches to the bunkers heavily mined.

Also, the operators had to traverse a large open area on foot, waiting for the right moment. When the friendly forces began a mass assault on a neighboring enemy position, the SOF operators launched drone strikes and initiated special operations.

As a result, at least three Russian soldiers were killed and one was captured. The Ukrainian forces managed to secure the reclaimed positions.

Two SOF operators were lightly wounded during the operation. Their injuries have almost fully healed, and they are ready to carry out further missions, the command stressed.

As reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of the Russian forces in Ukraine from February 24, 2022, to January 21, 2024, amount to approximately 822,030 individuals, including 1,600 in the past 24 hours.
