IAEA develop program to help Ukraine overcome consequences of Kakhovka dam explosion

Mariano Grossi, the IAEA Director General, presented to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky a program of assistance to Ukraine to overcome the consequences of the Kakhovka dam explosion.

Grossi reported this on Twitter, according to Ukrinform.

 

 

“Timely conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on the eve of my visit to Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant where I will assess the situation after the catastrophic Nova Kakhovka dam flooding,”  the IAEA Director General commented on his meeting with the Ukrainian President

 

 

According to Grossi, he presented Zelensky with a program of assistance to Ukraine "based on nuclear techniques in the areas of human health, food and potable water safety, animal health, soil & water management, & in assessing the health of critical infrastructures after the flooding."

As Ukrinform reported, on Tuesday, President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi the steps necessary to minimize risks at the Zaporizhzhia NPP and supported the proposal to send a group of IAEA experts to assess the consequences of the Kakhovka HPP explosion.
