About 18,000 Ukrainians evacuated from dangerous areas in October

The relevant statement was made by the Ukrainian Temporarily Occupied Territories Reintegration Ministry on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“The evacuation rates are remaining high on the eve of the winter period. About 1,000 citizens leave for safer regions in central and western Ukraine every day,” the report states.

The mandatory evacuation is underway in the Donetsk region.

“Last month more than 5,000 people moved from the Donetsk region to safer areas, including more than 700 children and 500 disabled persons. In general, about 1.1 million civilians were evacuated from the Donetsk region, including more than 131,000 children and 24,000 disabled persons,” the ministry noted.

The evacuation from the temporarily occupied areas continues but is very challenging at the moment.

“The opportunity to leave has nearly exhausted itself. The invaders have actually stopped to allow for evacuation vehicles to drive from the Kherson region and the Zaporizhzhia region. They are creating all kinds of obstacles: demanding a license from carriers, taking fingerprints, inspecting all documents, cell phones, cars, etc,” the ministry stressed.

Over the past month, few people have managed to leave these areas – as many as usually left within 1-2 days. In particular, more than 1,300 people evacuated from the Kherson region and about 1,400 from the Zaporizhzhia region.
