A former bank employee from Ukraine's Ternopil region, suspected of misappropriating customers' funds and wanted internationally, has been extradited from Norway to Ukraine.

That is according to the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrinform reports.

The man left Ukraine in July 2021 and was subsequently placed on Ukraine's national and international wanted lists.

According to the investigation, from 2017 to 2021, he systematically misappropriated funds belonging to residents of the Ternopil region and a public organization by gaining unauthorized access to bank cards and accounts and abusing the victims' trust. The total losses exceeded UAH 1 million.

Through cooperation between Ukrainian law enforcement agencies and their Norwegian counterparts, the suspect was detained and extradited to Ukraine.

At the request of prosecutors from the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office, a court ordered a preventive measure for the suspect.

He is charged with theft, fraud, and illegal actions involving payment cards and means of access to bank accounts (Articles 185, 190 and 200 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
