War update: 184 combat engagements along frontline over past day

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported the situation on Facebook as of 08:00 on Thursday, October 16.

The enemy carried out one missile strike with two missiles and 87 airstrikes, dropping 171 guided aerial bombs on Ukrainian positions and populated areas. In addition, Russian forces conducted 4,979 artillery strikes, including over 100 using multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and deployed 5,595 kamikaze drones.

Russian airstrikes targeted the city of Sumy, Kostiantynivka and Dobropillia in Donetsk region, Apostolove and Radushne in Dnipropetrovsk region, Yehorivka and Orikhiv in Zaporizhzhia region, Novovorontsovka and Kozatske in Kherson region.

In response, Ukrainian aviation, missile, and artillery units struck six clusters of enemy personnel and two command posts.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the enemy launched nine airstrikes with 18 guided aerial bombs and 186 artillery attacks, including 10 with MLRS.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, 17 engagements occurred near Vovchansk, Vovchanski Khutory, Tykhe, Kamianka, Kutkivka, and toward Okhrimivka, Odradne, and Boholivka.

In the Kupiansk sector, there were six Russian attacks; Ukraine’s Defense Forces repelled assaults near Stepova Novoselivka and Petropavlivka. Counter-sabotage measures continue in and around Kupiansk.

In the Lyman sector, Russian forces carried out seven attacks attempting to advance near Hrekivka, Kolodiazi, Novoselivka, and Derylove.

In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 10 attacks near Serebrianka, Yampil, Dronivka, Vyimka, and Fedorivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, one engagement was recorded; Russian forces attempted to advance toward Predtechyne.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, the Russians conducted 25 attacks near Bila Hora, Pleshchiivka, Shcherbynivka, Kleban-Byk, Oleksandro-Kalynove, and Rusyn-Yar.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian forces stopped 56 assaults near Volodymyrivka, Nikanorivka, Myroliubivka, Novoekonomichne, Promin, Lysivka, Pokrovsk, Zvirove, Chunishyne, Udachne, Kotliarivka, Horikhove, and Filiia.

In the Oleksandrohrad sector, 30 Russian attacks were repelled near Zelenyi Hai, Ivanivka, Oleksandrohrad, Sichneve, Sosnivka, Oleksiivka, Novomykolaivka, Novohryhorivka, Malynivka, and Poltavka.

In the Huliaipole sector, no offensive actions by the enemy were recorded.

In the Orikhiv sector, five attacks occurred near Kamianske, Plavni, and Stepove.

In the Prydniprovske sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled four enemy attacks.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, Russia’s total combat losses from February 24, 2022, to October 16, 2025, stand at approximately 1,127,300 personnel, including 1,080 in the past 24 hours.
