Russia maintains a significant presence of missile carriers in the Black Sea therefore the missile threat remains high.

That’s according to Operational Command South spokesperson Natalia Humeniuk, who spoke on the air of the national telethon, Ukrinform reports.

"Currently, the activity of missile carriers remains high. On combat duty they have a surface carrier and two submarine carriers. The total salvo is up to 16 Kalibrs. This configuration of missile carriers has been maintained for quite a while," Humeniuk noted.

According to the spokesperson, the enemy almost never involved missile carriers in their attacks early January but then, despite the storm, they deployed them and are now maneuvering and replacing them without removing them from combat duty.

"This may indicate preparation for a future attack using sea-based missiles, and may also be aimed at dispersing our air defenses during air raids involving air-based or ballistic missiles, which the enemy has recently prioritized. Naval missile carriers on duty do distract some of our attention," Humeniuk said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Russia kept four warships on combat duty in the Black Sea as of 08:00 on Thursday, January 25, including two cruise missile carriers, with a total salvo of up to eight missiles.
