Prosecutor General of Ukraine Andriy Kostin has stated that corruption crimes during the war can be equated to looting.

Kostin made a corresponding statement during a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink, U.S. Department of Defense Inspector General Robert Storch, U.S. Department of State Inspector General Diana Shaw, and USAID Inspector General Nicole Angarella, the Prosecutor General's Office informs.

Apart from the issue of restoring justice and holding to account for international crimes committed during the war in Ukraine, the meeting participants also discussed the fight against corruption.

"We are happy to welcome delegations of international partners to Ukraine because our work is transparent, we are open to advice and successful experience that will increase efficiency. I believe that with joint efforts we will be able to ensure the restoration of justice as this is one of the key demands of the Ukrainian people," said the Prosecutor General.

He also emphasized that war is not an excuse to slow down efforts to fight corruption at all levels.

"Corruption crimes during the war can be equated to looting. Therefore, the fight against corruption and prevention of such crimes is a priority in the work of prosecutors and all law enforcement agencies," Kostin said.

According to him, the prosecutor's offices are already actively fighting corruption.

Over the past five months, the corruption crimes of five prosecutors were exposed.
