"There is no mobilization of women. Now there are changes related to the registration system. Until 2026, even Ukrainian women who have a medical specialty – the only one with which they can be mobilized – will not have to be registered. Other professions – only if desired," Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Hanna Maliar said during the nationwide telethon.
According to Maliar, about 5,000 women are currently at the front voluntarily. At the same time, she noted that changes to simplify the draft system were planned and developed by the General Staff even before the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion.
"There is nothing to complicate the situation of reservists, conscripts, those registered. It is about simplifying the registration system," she said.
As reported, on October 7, the Verkhovna Rada adopted as a whole the law on voluntary military registration of women, which was signed by President Volodymyr Zelensky on October 21.
