Ukraine updates stats on war-affected children

As a result of Russia’s full-scale armed aggression toward Ukraine, 383 children were killed and 747 – injured across the country.

That’s according to the Prosecutor General's Office, Ukrinform reports.

"As of the morning of September 11, 2022, more than 1,130 children were injured in Ukraine as a result of the full-scale armed aggression launched by the Russian Federation. According to the official information by juvenile prosecutors, 383 children died and 747 sustained injuries of varying severity," the statement reads.

These numbers are not final, as work is ongoing to verify data coming from active hostility zones, temporarily captured and liberated territories.

According to juvenile prosecutors, the largest numbers of war-affected children were reported in Donetsk region (390), as well as Kharkiv region (209), Kyiv region (116), Mykolaiv region (72), Chernihiv region (68), Luhansk region (61), Kherson region (55), Zaporizhia region (46), and Dnipropetrovsk region (26).

On September 10, a 10-year-old boy was wounded as a result of enemy shelling of the village of Soloviove in Yasynuvata district, Donetsk region.

A total of 2,480 educational facilities were damaged by Russian bombing and shelling. Of them, 289 were completely destroyed.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, about 260,000 children are believed to have been deported from Ukraine to Russia.
