A second charter flight carrying 306 Ukrainian refugees arrived in Montreal on Sunday.

“This morning, Ukrainian families fleeing Putin’s war arrived in Montreal,” Canada’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Mélanie Joly posted on Twitter on Sunday.

“Canada is unwavering in our support for Ukraine and its people. Welcoming these families in Montréal is a reminder of the human impact of Putin’s war, and of Canada’s continued promise to offer a temporary safe haven to those in need,” Joly said.

Foreign Minister Mélanie Joly and Immigration Minister Sean Fraser both welcomed Ukrainians and their families at the Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport Sunday. Dozens of volunteers also helped the passengers in every possible way.

The flight departed from Warsaw, where it took away 306 Ukrainians who wished to enter the province of Quebec for free. Another charter flight to Halifax will depart from Warsaw in the coming days. It is expected that about 300 people will be on board. Earlier, a similar charter flight took Ukrainian refugees from Warsaw to Winnipeg, Manitoba.

In mid-March, Canada announced the opening of a temporary residence pathway program for Ukrainians seeking seekers, allowing them to live and work in Canada for three years. Ukrainians can also apply for free accommodation for the first two weeks upon arrival and for financial assistance.
