$40B for Ukraine: what US money will be spent on

The Center released the explanation on its Telegram channel.

“$6 billion is intended for weapons, intelligence support, training, and other security assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

$8.7 billion will be spent to replenish stockpiles of weapons transferred to Ukraine.

$3.9 billion will be used to fund the European Command operations, including intelligence support.

$11 billion is intended for weapons, military and defense equipment which U.S. President Joe Biden will be able to send to Ukraine under a fast-track procedure, without further agreement with Congress.

$13.8 billion was approved for the US Department of State. Most of the sum will be transferred to the Economic Support Fund to help the Government of Ukraine continue its work.

$4.4 billion will be spent on food supplies to Ukraine and other countries.

As reported, U.S. President Joe Biden signed a law on additional appropriations to Ukraine in 2022 which allows disbursing more than $40 billion from the country's budget to respond to Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

The bill was passed by the House of Representatives on May 10 by an overwhelming majority of lawmakers (368 vs. 67 Congress members). After more than a week of deliberations in the upper house of the US Congress, on Thursday, May 19, the act was passed with 86 votes for and 11 against.

The allocation of $40.1 billion is stipulated for the measures in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The funds will be allocated through the US Department of Justice, the Pentagon, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the Department of Health and Human Services, the Department of State, USAID, the Department of Agriculture, and the Department of the Treasury.
