More than 3,800 people evacuated through humanitarian corridors today

On Tuesday, April 5, 3,800 people have been evacuated through humanitarian corridors in Ukraine.

"A total of 3,846 people have been evacuated today. In particular, 2,216 people left for Zaporizhzhia by their own vehicles from Mariupol and Berdyansk, including 1,496 people from Mariupol, along humanitarian corridors. Also, 720 people came from the towns of Zaporizhzhia region: Polohy, Vasylivka, Berdiansk, Melitopol," Deputy Prime Minister – Minister for Reintegration of the Occupied Territories of Ukraine Iryna Vereshchuk said in a video address, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to her, a column of seven buses to evacuate people from Mariupol, which was moving along the agreed route, accompanied by a delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross, was forced to return after the blockade in the town of Manhush. She noted that Mariupol and Berdiansk residents were evacuated by these buses along the way.

"Also, more than 40 private cars are following the buses. They are now passing checkpoints in the town of Vasylivka. In the near future, 400 people will be safe in Zaporizhzhia," the official said.

She added that 17 minibuses returned to Zaporizhzhia, which were sent to Berdiansk in the morning, and evacuated 150 people.

According to Vereshchuk, 1,080 people were evacuated from Lysychansk, Severodonetsk, Rubizhne, and Kreminna in Luhansk regions.

As reported, seven humanitarian corridors were opened on April 5 to evacuate civilians.
