Ukraine yet to receive Russia’s response to security guarantees deal - Kuleba

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated this at a briefing in Warsaw, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have not yet received a full response to the proposals that were put forward in Istanbul. We see some public comments coming from Russian officials. However, we are waiting for a full-fledged formal response from Russia," Kuleba said.

He added that such a response would make it clear whether Russia continues to speak directly or covertly in the language of ultimatums, or whether it has finally moved on to a constructive discussion of the agenda and the search for mutually acceptable solutions.

"Therefore, we are looking forward to this response," said the head of Ukrainian diplomacy.

As reported, on March 29, following the negotiations with Russia in Istanbul, Ukraine’s delegation announced a proposal to sign an international agreement on security guarantees.

According to the head of the Servant of the People faction, the head of the delegation at the talks with Russia, David Arakhamia, this is anout a new global system of guarantees.

In particular, it has been proposed that members of the UN Security Council accede to Ukraine's International Security Assurance Treaty, and that the threat response mechanism be similar to Article 5 of NATO's Charter, but provide for no more than three days of consultation if necessary to respond to threats.
