France records all Russian war crimes in Ukraine - ambassador

French Ambassador to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins said this at a briefing on Monday, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"Of course, we are following this issue [on Russia's committing war crimes in Ukraine] very closely. We are recording everything that can be considered a war crime. We receive information about this directly from sources and from the Ukrainian authorities, with whom we are in constant contact on this aspect," de Poncins said.

Commenting on the fact that events in Ukraine are covered by more than a hundred accredited French journalists, the diplomat noted that he has somewhat mixed feelings about this.

"On the one hand, we urge journalists not to visit high-risk areas, and we pass this request through the heads of their agencies, and when I meet with them, I understand that they did not follow our recommendations," the French ambassador said.

On February 24, Russian President Putin announced the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops have been shelling and destroying key infrastructure, residential areas of Ukrainian cities and villages using artillery, multiple rocket launchers and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
