According to Ukrinform, the SSU reported this.
It has been established that the detainee was cooperating with the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation. He attempted to track down the official and blow him up with a homemade bomb near a local cafe.
The perpetrator was caught red-handed when he conducted reconnaissance at the site of the planned terrorist attack and reported to his Russian handler that he was ready to detonate the bomb.
The enemy accomplice turned out to be a 27-year-old conscript who had left his military unit of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without permission and was hiding in the Kirovohrad region.
The deserter came to the attention of the FSB while seeking “easy money” on Telegram channels. The identity of the Russian special services agent with whom he was in contact has already been established.
At the enemy intelligence officer's instructions, the perpetrator began following the head of the regional institution to determine the optimal time and place for his elimination. The agent studied the potential victim's daily routine, his main locations, and his routes through the city's streets.
After daily reconnaissance trips, the suspect sent the FSB the coordinates of the cafe near which the official was passing. He was then to receive instructions from the Russians on how to make a homemade explosive device for planting and remote detonation.
During the searches, law enforcement officers seized a smartphone from the detainee containing evidence of his work for the enemy.
