Ukraine is looking for new logistics routes to ramp up its export potential.

“Another urgent issue is new logistics routes and ramping up Ukraine's export potential. What has been done in these months? Visa-free transport regime with the EU, abolition of customs duties and quotas for Ukrainian products when exported to Europe, Canada and Great Britain, establishment of new checkpoints on the western border of Ukraine, expansion of the potential of the Danube River ports in the territory of Ukraine,” Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal said at the Cabinet’s meeting.

As noted, the Danube is currently one of the core export routes and, therefore, the Government continues to enlarge its potential. “Today we will adopt changes to the border regime regulations, thereby allowing the fleet to carry out bunkering operations, that is, to refuel them right near the ports of Reni and Izmail,” Shmyhal noted.

In his opinion, this step will help increase the speed and significantly facilitate the logistics of export-import cargo.

As reported, Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov said that projects to increase the capacity of ports on the Danube require up to $200 million in investment. Their modernization will increase capacity up to 25 million tonnes of cargo per year.
