Russian troops fire at Lysychansk, attempt to cut off ‘road of life’

The relevant statement was made by Luhansk Regional Military Administration Head Serhii Haidai on Telegram, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“In Luhansk Region, fierce battles and raging in Sievierodonetsk and satellite settlements. Lysychansk is under extensive enemy fire. [Russian] orcs are attempting to encircle along the Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway but have no success,” Haidai wrote.

In his words, Russian troops are trying to gain full control over Sievierodonetsk and making attempts to block Ukrainian defense forces near Borivske and Voronove. Hostilities are underway.\

Russian occupiers are gaining a foothold in Ustynivka and conducting an offensive on Bila Hora. They are partially succeeding, but battles continue.

In the Toshkivka-Pidlisne direction, the enemy seized such settlements as Pidlisne and Myrna Dolyna. Russian troops are gaining a foothold within the captured frontiers. They also had partial success near Hirske.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian defenders competently prevented the enemy’s attempt to conduct reconnaissance in fighting in such directions as Metiolkine-Voronove and Metiolkine-Syrotyne. Russian units retreated.

According to Haidai, Russian troops continue to follow a ‘crawling tactics’ and fire at Luhansk Region with artillery and aviation. Every day they hit one and the same targets in Sievierodonetsk, i.e. the Azot plant and the bridges destroyed.

Lysychansk is also suffering from continuous enemy fire. Three civilians and several police officers have been injured over the past day. The city’s residential areas and infrastructure were seriously damaged. Russian troops intentionally fired missiles at Lysychansk-based law enforcement buildings, such as the police department, prosecutor’s office and the Security Service of Ukraine.

Over 20 residential houses were reported damaged in the Hirske community.

A reminder that the Azot plant’s employees and their families are hiding in bomb shelters within the territory of the enterprise in Sievierodonetsk. A total of 568 civilians are remaining there, including 38 children.
