US Army Secretary Daniel Driscoll held talks with Russian officials on Monday in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The Reuters reported this, according to Ukrinform.

An American official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said that Driscoll’s discussions would continue on Tuesday. It was unclear who would be in the Russian delegation

The official added that Driscoll was also scheduled to meet with Ukrainian officials during his stay in Abu Dhabi.

The White House has not yet officially commented on this information.

The CBS News also reported the development, citing two US officials and two diplomatic sources not authorized to speak publicly.

“Secretary Driscoll met with members of the Russian delegation [Monday night] for several hours in Abu Dhabi. He is scheduled to meet with them again throughout the day [Tuesday] to discuss the peace process and rapidly move the peace negotiations forward,” the US official said.

Over the weekend, Driscoll, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Trump’s Envoy Steve Witkoff, presidential son-in-law Jared Kushner, and diplomats from Ukraine and European allies participated in talks in Geneva, Switzerland. Driscoll’s meeting with Russian officials followed his visit to the Ukrainian capital last week.

American and Ukrainian officials also discussed a possible visit by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the US this week, CBS News reported on Sunday. No specific plans for the visit have been confirmed.

A US official told CBS News that Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin appears to believe he would secure Donetsk region in Ukraine, either through negotiations or on the battlefield. According to the official, Trump administration talks in Geneva began with the assumption that Putin is correct.

The latest 28-point US peace plan has raised new concerns that the Trump administration may pressure Ukraine to sign an agreement heavily favorable to Moscow. According to American and Ukrainian officials, there is also a supporting document related to security guarantees.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, US presidential administration officials stated that most points of the plan for ending the war in Ukraine have already been agreed upon, with only “a few differences” remaining.
