U.S. President Donald Trump has dismissed as "fake news" a Wall Street Journal article claiming that Washington had allegedly authorized Ukraine to use long-range missiles to strike targets inside Russia.

He wrote this on Wednesday on his social media platform Truth Social, Ukrinform reports.

"The Wall Street Journal story on the U.S.A.'s approval of Ukraine being allowed to use long-range missiles deep into Russia is fake news!" Trump said.

According to him, "the U.S. has absolutely nothing to do with those missiles, wherever they may come from, or what Ukraine does with them."

On October 22, The Wall Street Journal published an article titled "U.S. Lifts Key Restriction on Ukraine’s Use of European Long-Range Missiles." Citing administration sources, the report claimed that the U.S. had allegedly removed restrictions on Ukraine's use of Western-supplied long-range missiles to strike Russian territory.

The article came a day after Ukraine reportedly used a British-supplied Storm Shadow cruise missile to hit a Russian factory in Bryansk that produced explosives and rocket fuel.
