Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko showed members of the UN Security Council photographs of children killed in the latest Russian attacks, calling on the international community to respond decisively to these crimes.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent in New York, Svyrydenko emphasized during her speech at Friday’s Security Council meeting that Russia had once again targeted residential buildings, claiming the lives of innocent civilians.

She emphasized that 25 people were killed, including four children, and another 63 were injured, among them 11 children.

The Ukrainian Prime Minister said that the youngest victim was a girl not yet three years old. She was born under Russian shelling in October 2022 and died from Russian shelling in August 2025, the Prime Minister said.

Svyrydenko stressed that Moscow continues to commit systematic crimes against children.

She stated that since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion, at least twenty Ukrainian children had been subjected to sexual violence by Russian forces. She added that 2,139 children had been injured, 2,193 were still missing, and tens of thousands had been abducted.

According to her, the Security Council cannot remain silent. "The abduction of children must end. Every Ukrainian child must be returned home now—before more lives are destroyed," the Prime Minister urged.

As reported by Ukrinform, the UN Security Council convened an emergency session at Ukraine’s request to discuss the large-scale aerial attack by Russia on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities during the night of August 28. Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko participated in the meeting.
