Over the past two months, journalists from Crimea.Realities have identified 106 new obituaries of residents from the Russian-occupied peninsula who died fighting against Ukraine on the side of the Russian Federation.

These figures were published by the Cargo 200 project, Ukrinform reports, citing Crimea.Realities.

The list includes not only recent casualties but also individuals identified through DNA testing. Some names were added based on newly published information during memorial events.

Of the 106 newly identified cases, 33 people died before the start of this year, and 20 before May 2025. As of now, 2024 remains the deadliest year for Crimean combatants, with 494 confirmed deaths — 100 more than in 2023.

Sevastopol remains the leading city by number of obituaries, with around 400 deaths recorded. Most of the deceased were contract soldiers, though in nearly a third of the cases, it remains unclear how exactly they ended up at the front.

Reports indicate that military funerals in Crimea and Sevastopol are taking place almost daily for Russian troops killed in the war against Ukraine.

On December 19, 2024, the editorial team at Crimea.Realities (a project of Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty) published the Cargo 200 database, listing the first 1,000 identified Crimeans who died fighting for the Russian military in the war against Ukraine.

According to current monitoring data, the number of identified Crimean residents killed while fighting for Russia now exceeds 1,400.
