Russia now much less dependent on weapons supplies from Iran – Budanov

Kyrylo Budanov, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of Ukraine's Ministry of Defense, has commented on how developments in the Middle East, particularly the tensions between Iran and Israel, could affect arms supplies to Russia.

He shared his insights in an interview with Hromadske Radio, according to Ukrinform.

"I'm sorry to disappoint you, but the Russian Federation is not heavily dependent on supplies from Iran. For the most part, they're only receiving components," Budanov said.

According to him, the supply process has slowed somewhat, but the impact is unlikely to be felt significantly by Russian society.

"Shahed drones have been produced in Russia for quite some time already. So the answer is simple: this will not have any serious effect," Budanov said.

G7 foreign ministers earlier expressed support for the ceasefire between Israel and Iran, announced by Donald Trump, and called on all parties to avoid actions that could further destabilize the region.
