During his official visit to Ukraine, newly appointed German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul met with Ukrainian Minister of Internal Affairs Ihor Klymenko and delivered a new aid package to units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

“I am very pleased to meet you in Ukraine and would like to express my gratitude to the people and government of the Federal Republic of Germany for the support you have been providing us during this large-scale war. For almost three and a half years, Ukraine has been fighting for freedom, and we always feel the strong shoulder of the German people. And when we talk about assistance, we do not only mean material or technical support—first and foremost, we are talking about saving the lives of our people,” Klymenko said.

He emphasized that, thanks to the comprehensive support from Berlin, units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs have received crucial assistance enabling rapid response to threats, protection of critical infrastructure, counteraction against enemy UAVs, demining operations, maintenance of public order, and documentation of war crimes.

He also expressed gratitude to Germany for its contributions in the area of radiation, chemical, and biological protection—resources he described as essential, particularly in mitigating the aftermath of strikes on industrial facilities.

In addition, the Minister highlighted Germany’s support in supplying specialized equipment for swift debris removal and the rescue of civilians affected by Russian attacks.

In turn, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul reaffirmed his country’s unwavering commitment to supporting Ukraine, pledging continued assistance across key sectors. During the visit, the two sides inspected newly transferred vehicles designated for logistical support of border guard units and mobile fire groups tasked with protecting civilian populations and critical infrastructure.

As Ukrinform reported, Minister Wadephul also observed the operational deployment of the IRIS-T air defense system in Ukraine.
