Germany’s Foreign Minister arrives in Kyiv

It is noted that this is Wadephul’s first visit to Kyiv in his current role.

“We will continue to firmly stand by Ukraine so that it can successfully defend itself — with the help of modern air defense systems and other types of weapons, as well as humanitarian and economic assistance,” the minister said in a statement.

The German Foreign Minister pledged continued support for Ukraine and emphasized the importance of sanctions.

“Putin is not backing down from any of his maximalist demands — he does not want negotiations, he wants capitulation. As long as that remains the case, we will continue to limit his ability to finance this criminal war through sanctions. We are working intensively on this within the European Union and with our G7 partners,” the minister stated.

Wadephul added that the outcome of the war in Ukraine will determine whether Europe remains “a place where freedom and human dignity are valued — or becomes a continent where borders are changed by force.”

As previously reported by Ukrinform, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz assured that his country will continue to provide comprehensive support to Ukraine.
