Russia fails to achieve its goal of capturing Ukraine in three years – Syrskyi

Russia's main objective of seizing Ukraine remains unchanged, but after three years of full-scale invasion, it has not been realized.

This was stated by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi during the “Ukraine. Year 2025” Forum, Ukrinform reports.

"Today, as back then, the Russians’ ultimate plan remains the capture of all of Ukraine. Currently, they are attempting to push the Ukrainian Armed Forces out of the eastern and southern regions and reach their administrative borders. However, they have been striving for this so-called intermediate goal for more than a year.

Even after three years of full-scale Russian aggression, their plans remain unfulfilled, preventing the Russian leadership from declaring a so-called victory. Our task is to fight and defeat the enemy, and we are fulfilling this task," Syrskyi emphasized.

He expressed gratitude to Western allies and partners for their political support and military aid, including weapons, armored vehicles, ammunition, air defense systems, and aircraft. At the same time, he noted that logistical support for the military remains a critical issue.

"It is no secret that our supply situation remains difficult. Given this, we hope for the adoption of necessary decisions and the provision of critical military equipment and weapons for the Defense Forces," he stressed.

Syrskyi noted that Ukraine is forced to seek new technological solutions on the battlefield and reorganize the AFU command structure. Currently, the military is gradually transitioning to a system of permanent corps, replacing temporary operational-tactical groups and formations.

"Ukraine is also ramping up its own production of weapons and ammunition, prioritizing technological solutions that help save the lives of our soldiers. In particular, this includes the development of drone systems, robotic platforms, and maritime drones. We were the first in the world to create dedicated Unmanned Systems Forces, and interestingly, the enemy is now adopting our experience," Syrskyi stated.

As Ukrinform previously reported, on February 11 to 17, the Ukrainian forces destroyed 88 Russian tanks and 967 transport vehicles delivering ammunition, fuel, and supplies to Russian positions.
