Food prices in Ukraine have grown by 20-30% since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, according to Deputy Chairman of the All-Ukrainian Agrarian Council Denys Marchuk.

"During the period of active hostilities, we saw an actual increase in prices by about 20%, and for some products - by 30%," Marchuk said at a briefing at the Media Center Ukraine — Ukrinform.

According to him, the increase in food prices was caused by inflation, the destruction of logistics chains and the growth in fuel costs.

Marchuk also predicts that vegetable prices in Ukraine may increase by 20-30% in October.

"Now vegetables are much cheaper than they were in June, because, for example, a large amount of cucumbers and tomatoes are now growing in open ground. However, in October, [the price] may grow by 20-30% because they will be planted in refrigerating chambers that run on electricity. These costs will be included in the price of the final product," he said.

According to the expert, the price of bread and bakery products may also rise in autumn because the price of grain on the domestic market may also increase in Ukraine due to the resumption of agricultural exports.

As reported by Ukrinform, consumer inflation in Ukraine accelerated to 22.2% year-on-year in July 2022.
