President Volodymyr Zelensky signed the Law of Ukraine "On the Basic Principles of Forcible Seizure of Objects of Property Rights of the Russian Federation and its Residents in Ukraine".

This is stated on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

The law defines the legal basis for the forcible seizure of property rights (including in cases where military necessity requires so) of the Russian Federation as a state that has started a full-scale war against Ukraine and its residents.

Pursuant to the law, the forcible seizure of property rights of Russia and its residents in Ukraine is carried out without any compensation (reimbursement) of their value, given the full-scale aggressive war waged by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.

As reported, on March 3, the Verkhovna Rada passed a law providing for the nationalization of Russian property in Ukraine.

On February 24, president Putin announced the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Russian troops are shelling and destroying key infrastructure, massively hitting residential areas of Ukrainian towns and villages using artillery, multiple-launch rocket system, and ballistic missiles.

Martial law was imposed in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced.
