President Volodymyr Zelensky tabled a motion to dismiss Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova.

A relevant announcement was published on the website of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Draft resolution No. 7567 has been registered.

Earlier, draft resolution on the dismissal of Ivan Bakanov from the position of Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine No. 7564 was registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

On July 17, President Volodymyr Zelensky suspended Ivan Bakanov, Chief of the Security Service of Ukraine, from his duties and removed Iryna Venediktova from the post of Prosecutor General.

Andriy Smyrnov, Deputy Head of the President's Office, explained that the President’s decision did not mean the dismissal of officials. Official checks will be carried out, after which the President will decide whether to file an appropriate motion at the parliament.
