Russia blocks Ukrainian and international media to trap occupied regions in information blackout — DIU

As reported by Ukrinform, the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU) announced this on Facebook.

In particular, the leaders of the Russian-installed “administrations” in Donetsk and Luhansk regions have signed “decrees” banning the sale, installation, and use of satellite television equipment capable of broadcasting Ukrainian TV channels.

The “decree” came into force on October 10, and the illegal confiscation of satellite equipment from residents was planned to be completed by November 1.

In addition, the Kremlin has ordered the blocking of Russian SIM cards belonging to civilians who have not linked them to their passport data. The decision is aimed at accelerating forced “passportization” and exerting additional pressure on Ukrainians who refuse to accept Russian passports.

Those who refuse passportization will lose all access to mobile communication.

The Kremlin also seeks to control information resources. Occupation authorities have required authors of Telegram channels in the temporarily occupied territories with over 10,000 subscribers to add a special bot from Roskomnadzor.

“This bot, having administrator rights, can edit and delete posts, as well as block comments. Thus, any messages exposing corruption in occupation administrations or criticizing the Russian government can be immediately deleted or altered,” the statement reads.

The DIU emphasized that the goal of these measures is to create an information “bubble” in the temporarily occupied territories, where access to Ukrainian and international resources is blocked, and any information not controlled by the Kremlin is immediately censored.

The DIU reminded that obstructing Ukrainians’ access to information is unacceptable, and those responsible for these crimes will be held accountable.

As reported by Ukrinform, a new wave of covert mobilization has begun in the temporarily occupied part of Luhansk region.
