Schwarzenegger gets “vyshyvanka” as gift from Ukrainian actor

Kabanets shared his story with Ukraine’s public broadcaster PBC:UA, Ukrinform reports.

I approached him and said: ‘Hi, I’m from Ukraine, I’d like on behalf of all Ukrainians to thank you for your support and give a small gift,’ and then I took out this vyshyvanka. He looked at it and said that it was very similar to his traditional Austrian one. And I say jokingly: ‘You guys have probably ripped it off from us,’” Kabanets said.

The man said that he decided to present a shirt, designed by a Lutsk-based brand, in a spontaneous move, in appreciation for the actor’s support for Ukraine. In 2013, Vlad Kabanets moved to Canada from Bucha, a town in the suburbs of Kyiv, which was one of the most affected by Russian invasion at the onset of a full-scale war. Kabanets has been working in Toronto as an actor.

Kabanets stressed that Arnold Schwarzenegger knows a lot about Ukraine and supports Ukrainians in the times of war.

“I realize that our guys on the front line who protect us, also grew up on Terminator and played Terminator when they were kids. I believe that for them, Arnold’s support may lift their spirits, at least a little bit," the actor reckons.

As reported by Ukrinform, Hollywood actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger during his online address to the "Austrian World Summit" climate conference on Tuesday, June 14, said that with the tens of billions of euros paid to Russia for energy, Europe is thus financing the Russian war against Ukraine.
