Heavy weapons, air defense, security guarantees on agenda of Zelensky’s meeting with Johnson

President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine, the team of his Office and the Cabinet of Ministers discussed with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson Ukraine’s need for heavy weapons and air defense systems, as well as other international support for the country.

This was announced by the head of the President’s Office, Andriy Yermak, on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

The official noted that on June 17, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, his Office and the Ukrainian government’s team met with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson in Kyiv.

"We discussed with Boris the need to send us heavy weapons and air defense systems, economic support for Ukraine, increasing sanctions on Russia, including those from the proposals of the McFaul-Yermak international group, as well as security guarantees for Ukraine and the need to compensate for Russia's damage to our country. It was also, of course, about our victory in the war for Independence," the head of the President’s Office informed.

Yermak thanked Britain for its strong support: "Ukraine will win with such strong allies."

As Ukrinform reported, Prime Minister of the United Kingdom Boris Johnson arrived in Kyiv on June 17 for the second time since a full-scale Russian invasion.

Earlier, Johnson visited the Ukrainian capital on April 9.

The British government, led by Johnson, and his country were among pioneers of principled and unwavering support for Ukraine, becoming a guide for many other nations.
