Britain ready to invest in Ukraine’s reconstruction projects

This announcement follows a meeting between Aliona Shkrum, First Deputy Minister for Development of Communities and Territories of Ukraine, and representatives of the British government and business sectors. 

During her visit to the UK, Deputy Minister Shkrum engaged in discussions with Stephen Doughty, Minister of State for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories; Gareth Thomas, Minister for Services, Small Businesses, and Exports; and Mike Kane, Minister for Aviation, Maritime, and Security. 

“We greatly value the robust support from Great Britain and its commitment to fostering deeper cooperation for reconstruction. British businesses are eager to join Ukraine's initiatives and invest in our projects. This was emphasized during a meeting with over 25 leading investment funds and corporations listed on the London Stock Exchange,” Shkrum stated.

She stated that the meeting primarily focused on investment opportunities in reconstruction, transportation, and infrastructure projects.

Additionally, significant attention was given to the topic of war risk insurance. The UK has played a crucial role in providing such insurance, ensuring that ships can safely call at the ports of Greater Odesa and other Ukrainian ports.

Furthermore, Shkrum met with Alex Sobel, the UK Government’s Trade Envoy to Ukraine, and other British MPs to discuss the issues of British businesses' involvement in infrastructure recovery programs and public-private partnerships.

As reported, the UK is allocating £25 million to launch the SPIRIT program to support inclusive and sustainable social recovery in Ukraine.
