According to an Ukrinform correspondent, U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated this while speaking at the America Business Forum.
"We have a lot of work to do with regard to security protocols for Ukraine. There's a lot of discussion that technical teams have to have happened at the lower level before the leaders can get to a deal. But I sense that there's some progress today," Witkoff said.
He added that "both sides don't trust each other. And that's a really difficult place to be." "Both sides [Russia and Ukraine] will get to a place where they understand that solving that conflict kinetically is bad for them long term, either of them, that it should be solved diplomatically," Witkoff noted.
