There has been some progress in the negotiations on peace between Ukraine and Russia.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, U.S. President Donald Trump's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff stated this while speaking at the America Business Forum.

"We have a lot of work to do with regard to security protocols for Ukraine. There's a lot of discussion that technical teams have to have happened at the lower level before the leaders can get to a deal. But I sense that there's some progress today," Witkoff said.

He added that "both sides don't trust each other. And that's a really difficult place to be." "Both sides [Russia and Ukraine] will get to a place where they understand that solving that conflict kinetically is bad for them long term, either of them, that it should be solved diplomatically," Witkoff noted.

According to Witkoff, ending the war in Ukraine will become possible after the final resolution of the conflict between Israel and Hamas.

As Ukrinform reported, U.S. President Donald Trump wants his team, after concluding a peace agreement in the Middle East, to focus on negotiations with the Russians to end the war in Ukraine.
