War update: 175 combat clashes on front lines in past 24 hours, 50 in Pokrovsk sector

According to Ukrinform, the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces announced this on Facebook in its update on the situation as of 08:00 Wednesday, August 20.

The Russian army carried out four missile strikes and 82 airstrikes on Ukrainian positions and populated areas, using ten missiles and dropping 153 guided aerial bombs.

In addition, the Russians conducted 5,611 shelling attacks, including 66 with multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), and used 5,610 kamikaze drones.

Enemy airstrikes targeted the areas of Hremiach in the Chernihiv region; Nova Sloboda and Chernatske in the Sumy region; Kostiantynivka, Dobropillia, and Ivanopillia in the Donetsk region; Bilohiria and Prymorske in the Zaporizhzhia region; and Odradokamianka in the Kherson region.

Ukrainian aircraft, missile forces, and artillery struck nine areas of concentration of enemy personnel, weapons, and military equipment, two artillery systems, and one other important target belonging to the Russian invaders.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, seven combat engagements took place. In addition, the enemy launched 12 airstrikes, dropping 26 guided aerial bombs, and carried out 218 attacks on Ukrainian positions and settlements, including nine with MLRS.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, Ukrainian forces repelled five enemy attacks near Vovchansk and Kamianka.

In the Kupiansk sector, there were six attacks by Russian invaders. Ukrainian forces repelled assaults near Kindrashivka, Synkivka, Zahryzove, and Stepova Novoselivka.

In the Lyman sector, the Russian army attacked Ukrainian positions 33 times, attempting to advance near Zelena Dolyna, Kolodiazi, Myrne, Torske, and toward Yampil and Hryhorivka.

In the Siversk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled two Russian assaults near Pereizne and toward Fedorivka.

In the Kramatorsk sector, two combat engagements were recorded near Oleksandro-Shultyne.

In the Toretsk sector, the enemy carried out ten attacks in the areas of Toretsk, Shcherbynivka, Yablunivka, and Poltavka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders stopped 50 Russian assaults near Volodymyrivka, Maiak, Nykonorivka, Novoekonomichne, Chervonyi Lyman, Rodynske, Promin, Hrodivka, Lysivka, Zvirove, Udachne, Novomykolaivka, Horikhove, and Novoukrainka.

In the Novopavlivka sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 28 enemy attempts to break through defensive lines near Hrushivka, Zelenyi Hai, Temyrivka, Voskresenka, Zelene Pole, and toward Komyshuvakha.

In the Dnipro River sector, there were four combat engagements with Russian troops.

In the Huliaipole and Orikhiv sectors, the enemy did not conduct active operations.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, there were no signs of Russian offensive group formations.
