Gov’t eases rules for importing UAV components

This was announced on Telegram by Deputy Prime Minister for Innovations, Development of Education, Science and Technologies, Minister of Digital Transformation Mykhailo Fedorov, Ukrinform reports.

"An important step for the development of the Ukrainian UAV market. Together with the Ministry of Economy and with maximum support on the part of the SBU, we simplified the procedure for importing components for drones during martial law. Now drone manufacturers will not have to get a permit from the Security Service. The government has adopted the relevant resolution," he said.

Fedorov recalled that previously it took up to 15 days to obtain the permit, while the vetting period delayed the process of bringing drone components into the country. Streamlining the procedure will speed up the import, assembly, and delivery of these components to the front line.

"We continue to work on the elimination of other blockers. We are introducing amendments to the Customs and Tax Codes. That’s for UAV importers not to pay import duty and VAT for drones and components amid martial law," the minister concluded.

As reported, the government supported a two-year experimental project on defense procurement of Ukraine-made unmanned systems. This solution is believed to be able to bring victory closer and contribute to the UAV market development.

After consultations with the General Staff of the Armed Forces, the Ministry of Defense concluded 16 state contracts with Ukrainian drone manufacturers. In 2023, the military plans to allocate about UAH 20 billion for the segment.
