Ukraine's Defense Forces have liberated more than 670 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory since the beginning of this year, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrskyi has said.
According to Ukrinform, Syrskyi made the statement in an interview with TSN.
According to Syrskyi, the current achievements are the result of last year's military campaign.
"The 2025 campaign was designed to gradually wear down the enemy's main force groupings, increase its losses, and prevent it from sustaining offensive operations across all operational and strategic directions. Overall, we succeeded in accomplishing those objectives," he said.
He stressed that this enabled Ukrainian forces to launch active operations in certain sectors from the beginning of 2026.
"As a result, as of today, we have liberated more than 670 square kilometers of Ukrainian territory since the start of the year," Syrskyi said.
