The SSU’s “Alpha” special forces unit is currently recruiting both men and women for various positions, with motivation and character remaining the key qualities sought in candidates.

Serhii Stakhovsky, a member of the SSU’s “Alpha” special forces unit and a Ukrainian tennis player, made this statement in a comment to Ukrinform.

According to him, there are many women in Ukraine who aspire to contribute to the defense of the state and are ready to serve in special operations units.

“‘Alpha’ is constantly recruiting both women and men. The most important thing is to have a great personality. They’ll teach you the rest,” said Stakhovsky.

He also commented on the technological standoff with Russia and the role of Ukrainian long-range drones

According to the military official, most of these weapons are Ukrainian-developed and are constantly being improved, and their use inflicts significant economic losses on the enemy.

“Our Ukrainian drones fly far beyond the front lines and put real financial pressure on the enemy,” he said.

Stakhovsky also emphasized that Russia is trying to copy successful Ukrainian solutions, but Ukraine maintains its advantage thanks to engineering developments and innovations.

“Technologically, thanks to our engineering developments and the bright minds of the Ukrainian nation, we are able to maintain parity. We have the advantage through our innovations, while they are catching up to our innovations through sheer numbers,” the military official noted.

As reported by Ukrinform, Ukraine celebrates “Alpha Day” (the anniversary of the establishment of the Security Service of Ukraine’s (SSU) Special Operations Center “A”) every year on June 23. This is the official holiday of Ukraine’s elite special forces unit, which carries out the most complex combat and reconnaissance missions.
