Britain is willing to assist with demining operations off Ukraine’s southern coast and considers offering insurance to ships to move millions of tonnes of grain stuck in the country.

British PM Boris Johnson made a corresponding statement in an interview with Reuters during a visit to Rwanda for a Commonwealth summit.

“I don’t want to get into the technical or military details, but you can take it from what we have already done in supplying equipment to the Ukrainians to help themselves protect that we are certainly talking to them at a technical level to help demine Odesa,” Johnson said when asked if Britain was ready to help Ukraine demine the area.

As noted, Russia has blocked more than 20 million tonnes of grain in Ukraine.

“It is absolutely unconscionable. That supply could help people around the world, it could help some of the poorest countries in the world,” the British PM said.
