U.S. Department of State approves sale of Hawk missile system equipment to Ukraine

The U.S. Department of State has approved the military sale to the Government of Ukraine for Hawk missile system sustainment and related equipment, with the estimated total cost of $108.1 million.

According to Ukrinform, the announcement was made in a press release issued by the U.S. Department of State.

“The U.S. Department of State has made a determination approving a possible Foreign Military Sale to the Government of Ukraine for Hawk Missile System Sustainment and related equipment,” the statement said.

The estimated total cost of the package is $108.1 million.

It is noted that Ukraine has requested the missile systems.

The U.S. Department of State emphasized that the proposed sale would improve Ukraine’s capability to counter current and future threats.

“Ukraine will have no difficulty absorbing these articles and services into its armed forces,” the Department of State added.

As previously reported by Ukrinform, in early May, the U.S. Department of State approved the sale to Ukraine of Joint Direct Attack Munition Extended Range (JDAM-ER) kits and related equipment worth a total of $373.6 million.
