War update: 159 battles on front lines; 36 enemy assaults repelled in Pokrovsk sector

Over the past 24 hours, on April 22, 159 combat engagements between the Ukrainian Defense Forces and Russian invaders were recorded on the front lines.

According to Ukrinform, this is stated in a Facebook post by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine regarding the situation as of 8:00 a.m. on April 23.

The enemy carried out 73 airstrikes, dropping 234 guided bombs.

In addition, the Russians deployed 9,096 kamikaze drones and carried out 3,231 shelling attacks, including 52 from multiple launch rocket systems.

The Russians carried out airstrikes in the areas of Chernatske and Vilna Sloboda in the Sumy region; Ivanivka, Kopani, and Lisne in Dnipropetrovsk region; Andriivka-Klevtsove in the Donetsk region; Verkhnia Tersa, Liubytske, Shyroke, Huliaipole, Staroukrainka, Tymoshivka, Tsvitkove, Dolynka, Komyshuvakha, Novorozivka, Yasna Polyana, Yurkivka, and Orikhiv in the Zaporizhzhia region.

The Air Force, Rocket Forces, and Artillery of the Defense Forces struck six areas where enemy personnel and equipment were concentrated, three command posts, and one artillery piece.

In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, the Russians carried out four airstrikes, using 12 guided bombs, and conducted 121 shelling attacks, five of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.

In the Southern Slobozhanshchyna sector, the enemy made four attempts to breach defensive lines in the Lyman area and toward Bochkove and Okhrimivka.

In the Kupiansk sector, the aggressor launched seven attacks in the areas of Petropavlivka and Kivsharivka.

In the Lyman sector, the Russians attempted five times to breach the defenses in the areas of Novoserhiivka, Drobysheve, and Dibrova.

In the Sloviansk sector, the Defense Forces repelled two attempts by the invaders to advance in the area of Yampil.

In the Kramatorsk sector, the Russians attacked twice in the area of Nykyforivka.

In the Kostiantynivka sector, the enemy carried out 20 attacks near Kostiantynivka, Pleshchiivka, Oleksandro-Shultyne, Ivanopillia, Illinivka, and toward Novodmytrivka.

In the Pokrovsk sector, Ukrainian defenders repelled 36 assaults by the Russian army in the areas of Sofiivka, Novopavlivka, Toretske, Rodynske, Filiia, Shevchenko, Myrnohrad, Hryshyne, Muravka, Kotlyne, Udachne, and toward Kucheriv-Yar.

In the Oleksandrivka sector, the enemy attacked eight times in the areas of Sichneve, Ternove, Oleksandrohrad, Vorone, and Kalynivske.

In the Huliaipole sector, there were 16 Russian attacks in the areas of Dobropillia, Hirke, Zaliznychne, Zelenyi, Staroukrainka, and Tsvitkove.

In the Orikhiv sector, the enemy advanced toward Novoandriivka.

In the Prydniprovske sector, the invaders carried out four assaults toward the Antonivskyi Bridge and near the islands of Bilohrudyi and Kruhlyk.

In the Volyn and Polissia sectors, no signs of the formation of Russian offensive groups were detected.

As reported by Ukrinform, the total combat losses of Russian forces since the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine—from February 24, 2022, to April 23, 2026—in the war against Ukraine amount to approximately 1,322,550 personnel.
