Russian servicemen, who never made it to withdraw from the liberated Kherson region along with their units have changed into civilian outfits, trying to evade arrest and accountability for war crimes.

Oleksiy Danilov, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council, spoke of this on the air of the national telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Indeed, a certain part (of the Russian servicemen - ed.) change into civilian clothes in order to hide and avoid accountability," he said.

At the same time, Danilov assured that the SBU and the Ukrainian military run all the necessary checks in the area, including at roadblocks. He added that on Sunday, at a meeting chaired by President Volodymyr Zelensky, SBU officials already boasted some arrests.
