A female agent of Russia's FSB, who directed airstrikes and artillery fire on Defense Forces positions in Donetsk region, has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with confiscation of property.

According to Ukrinform, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported this on its website.

The agent's primary tasks were to locate and transmit the positions of Defense Forces units on the Pokrovsk axis.

SBU counterintelligence detained the agent in October 2024 in the Kirovohrad region, where she had arrived posing as a displaced person, intending to later flee to Russia. The spotter turned out to be a 39-year-old unemployed woman from Pokrovsk district who had been recruited by the FSB.

The investigation established that she was part of an FSB agent network operating in eastern Ukraine.

To maintain secrecy, the operatives spied separately from one another but coordinated their intelligence activities through a single handler.

Acting on instructions from the Russian security service, she monitored the geolocations of fortified areas and combat positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine that were holding back assault groups of the invaders.

She later traveled to Svitlovodsk in the Kirovohrad region, where she rented an apartment and began planning an escape route to Russia through third countries. During searches, authorities seized her Russian passport and the smartphone she used to communicate with her FSB handler.

Based on evidence collected by SBU counterintelligence and investigators, the court found the agent guilty under Part 2, Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason committed under martial law).

As Ukrinform reported, another FSB agent who directed Russian air attacks on Kostiantynivka in Donetsk region was also sentenced to 15 years in prison with asset confiscation.
