According to Ukrinform, this was announced by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in an evening video address.
"There is a decision by partners to purchase weapons in America – the PURL program. Today, Norway announced a new contribution to PURL – thank you. Luxembourg too. Canada will increase its contribution. We know about Poland's contribution. The day before, there was also a decision by the Netherlands. There will also be initial contributions from countries outside NATO. I would like to thank everyone personally," Zelensky said, adding that he is awaiting a report on the full results of the PURL program.
He noted that it is a special task for Ukrainian diplomacy to keep pace with defense programs and projects with the US and other partners.
“The diplomatic pace largely determines the strength of our defense against Russian occupiers and the possibilities of our active steps, our long-range capabilities, and our protection against Russian strikes,” the head of state emphasized.
As reported by Ukrinform, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte called on partners to increase their contributions to PURL. Today, he announced that New Zealand and Australia, which are not NATO members, will join the program to purchase American weapons for Ukraine under the PURL mechanism.
